Facebook Auto-Refresh Blocker — Support

Stop the Auto-Refresh. Keep Your Place.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I install the extension?

Install Facebook Auto-Refresh Blocker from the Chrome Web Store. Once installed, the extension is active by default on all Facebook pages — no setup required.

How do I turn it on or off?

Click the extension icon in your Chrome toolbar to open the popup. Use the toggle to enable or disable protection. You can also click the reload button to manually refresh the Facebook tab.

Why does Facebook auto-refresh in the first place?

Facebook uses the Page Visibility API to detect when you switch away from the tab. When you return after about 1-2 minutes of inactivity, Facebook triggers an auto-refresh to reload the feed content, causing you to lose your place.

Does it work on other browsers?

Yes. It works on any Chromium-based browser including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Opera. Firefox is also supported.

Will it affect my browser performance?

No. The extension is lightweight and only runs on Facebook pages. It makes no background network requests.
